Materials for kitchen furniture

Carcass is an invisible part of kitchen furniture, hidden under the façade. The carcass is produced from a 16 or 18 m thick laminated chip board. Laminate plates are industrially produced in various colors and textures.

Facade is a visible part of kitchen furniture – doors, drawers and open shelves. Facades are usually produced from 18 mm thick chip board or 18 mm thick MDF and HDF plate, or from 18/22 mm thick natural wood and other materials.

Laminate is the most simple and cost-effective solution for kitchen furniture:
•    MDF is more expensive, but it allows producing facades with more interesting form and texture, and such facades may also be painted or re-painted in other color. If MDF is painted and polished, you will get a façade resistant against temperature drops, high moisture and easy to clean. In production of bent details a 8 mm thick MDF (Form) is used;
•    MDF and HDF plates may be milled to get profiles of any form, and covered with plastics, making them look like a laminate;
•    A little cheaper façade solution with natural wood is a wooden carcass with veneered filling, more resistant against hunting than a massive wood;
•    Facades of natural wood are covered with high-quality simple or colored polish. Such façade makes kitchen furniture more expensive, but assigns cozy and unique look and style;
•    Veneer – is rarely used in the kitchen, mainly like an addition to the interior;
•    Metal laminate is most widely used in kitchen interior – in walls finishing, especially beside a sink and a cooker, for working surfaces, facades of built-in furniture, and counters. But this material complies with other modern interiors as well. Densely pressed laminate sheets are very thin – 0.8 – 1.4 mm, and have a metallic upper layer – copper, aluminum, stainless steel with natural look or painted metal;
•    Hardened glass in an aluminum frame is a perfect alternative solution to a classic style.

Edges of finishing materials
Melamine edges – a gummed paper, with bottom layer of butter-paper. Width: from 21 to 50 mm.

ABS and PVC edges – width: from 21-45 mm, 0.5-2 mm thick.

Edge of natural wood - width: from 24-48 mm, 0.6-2 mm thick.

An unusual material for table and façade edges are aluminum profiles, adding a modern accent to the kitchen.

Table tops
A table top must be physically and hygienically resistant against external factors: spots, acids, odors, scratches, etc.
Table tops are produced using a postforming technology. A chip plate (36-40 mm thick) is covered with a decorative high pressure laminate. Besides, kitchen table tops may be made of artificial stone (acrylic) and natural stone, or marble, both with built-in sink and a decorative edge.
Table tops of stainless steel, plasticate and hardened glass are also popular; besides, they are may be used as wall “decorations”, that at the same time may be a practical shield from moisture, fat and heat.

The kitchen is a dirty place. Food and water spills on the floor can make it a death trap for many. Once food reaches the floor, bacteria can grow in between the tiles or the small spaces that the flooring does not quite meet up with the cabinets. Dirt from vendors and employees coming in and out of the kitchen can also cause slips and falls making the kitchen flooring one of the most important items in your kitchen, even more so than the mixers, sinks and ovens. When it comes to choosing your commercial kitchen flooring, few things are more important than your flooring being slip resistant. Here are some considerations when looking into purchasing commercial kitchen flooring for your restaurant.

Selecting the Right Kitchen Backsplash Design

When selecting a backsplash for your kitchen, it is important to have it match the fixtures in your kitchen, but not the appliances, since they will change over time. The fixtures will be the more permanent items in the kitchen or at least will be changed less often.
